Umbrella now offers enhanced flexibility by allowing you to define a custom currency for each onboarded account. This feature enables cost data to be displayed in your preferred currency, facilitating more intuitive financial analysis.
In this guide, we will guide you through:
- Key Terminologies
- Pages Affected by Currency Adjustments
- Setting the Processing Currency
- Setting the User-Session Currency
- Currency Conversion Rates
🔑 Key Terminologies
1. Provider Currency
The original currency from your cloud provider's billing export (e.g., USD for AWS).
2. Processing Currency
A user-defined currency that replaces the Provider Currency across various platform pages per account. This setting affects all users with access to the account.
3. User-Session Currency
A temporary, user-specific currency selection that overrides the Processing Currency for the current session. This setting is personal and does not impact other users.
Currency Display Across Platform Pages
When you set a Processing Currency (account-wide) or a User-Session Currency (per user session), these settings determine how costs are displayed across different pages of the platform.
Review the sections below to see which pages support currency adjustments and which display costs in the provider's original currency.

K8s Cost and Usage Explorer, K8s Assets - Partner Section (MSP):

Notes on User-Session Currency

Currency Conversion Rates
Umbrella applies currency conversions on a monthly basis, with each month's data reflecting the exchange rate applicable for that specific month.
- AWS and GCP Accounts:
Rates are based on the last business day of the previous month. For example, June's rate is taken from May 31st. - Azure and Multicloud Accounts:
Rates are based on two business days before the end of the previous month, aligning with Azure's exchange rate methodology. For example, June's rate is taken from May 29th.
