Connecting GCP

GCP (Google Cloud Platform) is a suite of cloud computing services including computing, storage, networking, and Big Data.

Umbrella Cost monitors GCP cloud costs and provides granular visibility into cloud billing that enables customers to optimize cloud spend and reduce waste.

GCP billing information data sources are:

1. GCP billing file, generated by GCP
2. BigQuery, holding K8s billing details
3. GCP monitoring client, additional K8s information

Important

Time periods in the GCP Cloud Billing report use the Pacific Time Zone (PST) and observe daylight saving time shifts. However, Umbrella uses the UTC time zone. You may notice some cloud cost differences between Umbrella Cost and the GCP Cloud Billing report due to the time zone difference.
