Azure Onboarding Prerequisites

This article describes the prerequisites to consider before starting the onboarding process.

Ensure you have access to your Umbrella Cost account.
On the Azure side, you will need the following permissions in order to complete the configurations:
- Create App Registration: Create an application for Umbrella. The permissions required to make the change: Global Admin.
- Creating billing export: Create an export of your Azure billing data to a CSV file. The permissions required to make the change: Owner, Contributor, reader, Cost Management contributor, or Cost Management reader.
- Provide permissions to the Application:
  - provide "Storage blob data reader" role to the storage account: this will allow Umbrella to read your export data from the container. For more information review Azure documentation.
  - provide "Monitoring Reader" role to your subscriptions: This role provides read-only access to monitoring data across various Azure resources in order for Umbrella to create recommendations. For more information review Azure documentation. The permission required to make the change: Owner
