1. How do I import historical data into Umbrella?
To bring historical data into Umbrella Cost, you need to create a one-time export for each month you want to import. Store these exports in the same container and directory as your current exports, then notify Umbrella support so we can collect the data into our platform. Please remember to create one export per month. For instance, if you need data for the past three months, you should create three separate exports, one for each month.
2. Can I view data from multiple exports in a single Umbrella Cost account?
Yes, to see data from multiple exports in one account, ensure all exports are stored in the same container and directory
3. Why do I not see any recommendations in Umbrella Cost?
To view recommendations, make sure you’ve granted the “Monitoring Reader” role to all relevant subscriptions. For detailed guidance, click here.

6. How often is the data in Umbrella updated?
Data in Umbrella is updated daily.
7. Can I see all of my Azure accounts in Umbrella in the same place?
Yes, you can see a holistic view of all your Azure accounts under the "Azure All Accounts" view.
8. What Azure roles are required for Umbrella to collect cost data and create recommendations?
- "Storage blob data reader" at the Storage Account level. Grants read-only access to Azure Storage blob containers and their data- this will allow Umbrella to read your export data from the container. For more information review Azure documentation.
- "Monitoring reader" at the subscription level. This role provides read-only access to monitoring data across various Azure resources. For more information review Azure documentation.
