Umbrella’s Savings Plan Utilization feature provides a centralized, clear view of AWS Savings Plan usage across your organization. It supports cloud finance, operations, and engineering teams in monitoring, optimizing, and governing Savings Plan consumption across accounts, services, and time periods.

Utilization data is captured and visualized monthly, making it easy to track effectiveness, identify unused capacity, and uncover potential savings opportunities.

Capabilities & User Flow

• Choose a month to explore the utilization of reserved Instances plans during that timeframe.

• Choose a service to explore the utilization of savings plans: Compute/EC2 Instance.
• Optional - Choose a Linked Account to explore its Reserved Instance utilization.

Utilization Detailes

The Savings Plan Details section provides a comprehensive view of each active and expired Savings Plan across your organization. This capability is designed to give teams full visibility into the lifecycle and performance of each plan, enabling better financial governance and utilization tracking.

• Plan Name & Type
  View the unique ID of the Savings Plan and its type (e.g., Compute, EC2 Instance).
• Start & Expiration Dates
  See when each plan began and when it is set to expire, helping you anticipate renewals and avoid lapses in coverage.
• Hourly Commitment
  Displays the committed usage amount per hour (e.g., $10/hr), which is essential for understanding how much coverage you're paying for.
• Utilization Summary (Per Month)
  Monthly breakdowns showing:
  • Utilization % – How much of the commitment was used.
  • Nat Savings- Estimated savings compared to On-Demand pricing.
  • Plan Status
    Indicates if the plan is active, expired, or expiring soon, making it easier to manage renewals proactively.
  • Charge Back -Linked Account Coverage
    View how the commitment is being consumed across different linked accounts, helping to identify underutilized or over-utilized areas.
